The homeowners called Albert and Mike after years of patching an aging roof, warped sun-bleached siding, drafty single-pane windows, sagging gutter runs and window trim that let water behind the wall. Chicagoland freeze-thaw cycles had curled shingles on the south slope, opened seams along the gable ends, and the front elevation had visible waves where panels had pulled loose from the sheathing.

We started on top: full tear-off of the old shingles down to the deck, replacement of soft decking, new ice-and-water shield along the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, and a new architectural asphalt shingle roof with a ridge vent system so the attic finally breathes.

Next came the windows. Every failing unit was pulled, the openings were checked for rot and re-framed where needed, and new energy-efficient double-pane vinyl windows were set, insulated, flashed and sealed before the siding went back on.

Our crew then tore the old siding down to the sheathing, replaced damaged boards, and installed a fresh house wrap so the wall assembly could dry properly. From there we hung white horizontal vinyl siding with tight, straight courses across both the gable and the lower elevations.

To sharpen the look, every trim detail — fascia, soffit, window surrounds, door casing and corners — was wrapped in black aluminum. We finished with black seamless 5-inch K-style gutters and downspouts formed on site, so there are no mid-run seams to fail in a heavy Chicago storm.

Roof, windows, siding, trim and gutters were completed by one crew, start to finish, with a magnetic nail sweep and full cleanup before we left the driveway.
